Any ideas on how to help students who don’t have a device? Where can we go to get funding? Are FRYSC’s allowed to purchase devices? We are not a one to one school. Our mission as FRYSC’s are supposed to remove barriers, and this is a huge barrier for my families.
This is keeping me up at night, so any advice would be appreciated. I just keep praying boldly that God will speak to a business, church or someone to help us.
So is your school not suppling Crome books?
Following. I’m in the same situation.
Our school is supplying Chromebooks, and I got a Digital Divide Grant where I will be able to purchase about 250 computers. A local bank donated USB drives so that kids without internet access can have the same learning experience, as the teachers will upload their videoed lessons and assignments to it

Agreed Julie! It saddens me greatly. I’ve offered to find used devices but can’t get the go ahead from admin to pursue. I had some hotspot donations and was told not to get anymore. I hate they are calling ours virtual learning but my low income with no device will have to do paper copies. How do you learn that way?

Districts did get funding from the CARES ACT. Our District used those funds to buy chrome books. Worth a shit asking about this.
Following. Our district has 1-1 for 4th-12th grade. That’s leaving out most of my K-3rd kids 😳😬

I have been working with local churches to see if they would be willing for students to use their WiFi in the parking lot. I have had a few said they would so trying to find one in each area.
Didnt every district get CARES funding that was earmarked for technology and PPE? I thought they should all have money to purchase what they need. Our district is using CARES money to purchase ChomeBooks for everyone.
